Nannies Plus involves a three-way partnership: the family, the nanny-educator, and the visiting teacher.
We talk with the family on a regular basis about how things are going for them and the children, and like to meet every 6 months with the family and nanny-educator (within work hours) to talk together and plan for the future.
Nannies Plus provides a support service for families (and their nannies).
We provide
- templates for an employment agreement
- appraisal system
- police checks for nannies every three years
- qualification checks for nannies
- home visits by Visiting Teachers every month
- communication folder for daily use
- resource kits for children’s play
- education evenings for nannies and families
- administration of 20 hours ECE funding & WINZ subsidies
- a listening ear for issues that may arise with your nanny
- a weekly music group
- programme allowance for children under 3 years
All home-based care providers follow the government regulations listed in the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008. These are in place for the well-being of the children.
When a family is first linked into Nannies Plus the visiting teacher checks the home and property and goes through all the requirements with the family and nanny-educator.
We find most family homes meet the requirements, but can advise in how to meet them if this is not the case. A full copy of the regulations is available at the office if you would like to read them or they can be accessed on the Government Website www.legislation.govt.nz and search for Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations.
The Nannies Plus checklist (which covers all the regulations) is in the Communication folder.
It is the responsibility of Nannies Plus to point out the standards, the responsibility of the family to ensure the home and premises meet them (ie by fitting gates, safety plugs, etc), and the responsibility of the nanny-educator to maintain the standards (ie by making sure the gates are shut).
