Programme for young children’s learning

Children’s learning and development is nurtured in their own homes by nanny-educators. Nanny-educators, parents and visiting teachers work collaboratively to plan for each child. Children’s learning is valued and given significance and there is access to a wide range of experiences and activities to support and extend this.

  • a child focussed programme
  • planning based on current interests
  • learning documented with photos and stories
  • Te Whāriki (the Early Childhood Curriculum) the basis for the programme
  • learning based on the home and community
  • Nannies Plus, the nanny-educator and the family share the responsibility for planning and recording the child's learning interests.

  • gain confidence, knowledge, skills and attitudes
  • accept simple rules and routines
  • be independent, and work co-operatively with others
  • explore, experiment, and seek solutions to questions
  • express themselves creatively
