Magdalene Michelle Naidoo
Business Development Manager & Visiting Teacher, Nannies Plus

Diploma in Montessori Education (3 – 6 Years Old), Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Post Graduate in Specialist Teaching (Early Intervention), Registered Teacher

Magdalene has been working in the early childhood education sector for twelve years.  She started her career as a nanny in America. Before coming to New Zealand, she worked in Montessori education in South Africa. She graduated an Early Intervention Teacher in 2015 at the University of Canterbury while working as a head teacher in Auckland. Although predominantly involved with centre-based services in NZ, currently she has taken on the role of Business Development Manager for Nannies Plus in Auckland and Visiting Teacher for NZCC’s home-based Level 4 Auckland nanny programme.

“My passion is working with children from ages 0 to 5 and providing them with individualise programs to suit their needs.. My professional philosophy as an early childhood teacher starts with the belief that good physical health and well-being makes a child happy. The importance I place on relationships with children resonates well with Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory and Te Whāriki.  Vygotsky emphasised the importance of the people surrounding a child, and the support they provide for the child to enhance the child’s development. Te Whāriki emphasis the holistic development of the child which I feel is embedded into my professional philosophy.”

Holley Hornell,
Recruitment Consultant, Wellington
BA (Stage & Screen Arts)

Holley has a background in Stage & Screen Arts and Events Coordination. She matches our trainee nannies and qualified nannies with families, and with over 5 years’ experience as a nanny, Holley knows how important this process is. On Wednesday mornings she runs our playgroup.

“Small people (kids) are my favourite kind of people and being able to find them the perfect person to take care of them is so rewarding. I love being able to offer families a service that I truly believe in. Building relationships with people is something I am really passionate about and I get to do this on a daily basis.”

Louise Turnbull,
Visiting Teacher, Nannies Plus
Tutor, Certificate in Early Childhood Practice (Level 4)
B.Ed (Early Childhood Teaching), Registered Teacher, Dip Tchg (ECE), Certificate in Adult Teaching (level 4/5).

Louise has over 15 years of experience working in early childhood education – from her personal involvement in Playcentre with her own children, to her role as head teacher for a community-based early childhood centre, and for the past ten years through her work at Nannies Plus.

“I have enjoyed being involved in both the tertiary and early childhood education parts of my job – supporting and observing the Trainee Nannies grow in their role and become professional and passionate educators of young children in the home-based sector.”

Anna Williams,
Visiting Teacher, Nannies Plus
Tutor, Certificate in Early Childhood Practice (Level 4)
B.Ed (Early Childhood Teaching), Registered Teacher

A mother of four, Anna’s interest in early childhood education began during her time at Playcentre with her own children.  From there she studied at Victoria University and completed her teacher training.

“I am quite passionate about the outdoors and the learning possibilities that the outdoor environment offers our young children. During my time teaching at an early childhood education centre I was fortunate to be able to design and oversee the implementation of the outdoor play area. I really value that our Trainee Nannies are able to use their community as the ‘outdoors’ for the children they care for, which allows for many varied learning opportunities.”

Camille Plimmer,
Visiting Teacher, Nannies Plus
Dip Tchg (ECE), Registered Teacher, MA, BA(Hons), BA

Camille has more than a decade of experience in early childhood education in centres, play groups and home based care, and has also taught English as a second language both in New Zealand and overseas.  She’s been working as a visiting teacher for Nannies Plus since 2012.

“I really enjoy what I do. Every day I am amazed by the fantastic work our nannies do with the young children in their care.

Anne-Mette Kvers,
Visiting Teacher, Nannies Plus
B.Ed (Early Childhood Teaching), Registered Teacher

Originally from Denmark, Anne-Mette moved to New Zealand in the early 1980’s.  She worked as a visiting teacher for Barnardos for ten years and then as facilitator for the ‘Promoting Participation in Early Childhood Education Project’. As a facilitator her job was to identify why some parents were choosing not to send their children to ECE services and to help them get over the barriers. She worked with families from many different cultures and got an insight into the struggles that many parents face.  She now works as a visiting teacher for Nannies Plus and is also a part-time kindergarten teacher.

“I’m really enjoying being back in the role of visiting teacher - supporting the nannies, families and children and seeing the benefit of children having a close one-on-one relationship with their ‘educator’.”
